FILE SUBMISSION USING QUARKXPRESS (FULL
COLOR)
PAGE LAYOUT
F Define
page size as a final size.
F Be sure to us a .25 pt. trap on all files.
F Provide the correct panel size for the style
of fold you wish to incorporate in cases where a
fold is required.
TYPE / RULE
F Use only Postscript Type 1 or TTF fonts.
FDefine rules by their measurements.
(Rather than indicate a hairline rule, specify a .25 pt. rule.)
COLOR
F Define all color names the same, using CMYK,
in both the graphics and page layout programs.
F Make sure you output a laser copy of all color
plates to verify color break.
F Add 60% Cyan to large solid black areas.
(The addition of Cyan will help you to achieve a richer black).
IMAGES
F Convert all bitmap files from RGB to
CMYK.
F Provide halftone images in EPS or TIF
formats only.
F Avoid placing JPG or PICT files.
F Scan line work at least 1000 dpi or
above.
F Provide color images at scan resolutions
of at least 300 dpi.
F Place all scans at 100% or original size
or smaller.
(If an image is increased in size after being placed in your document,
resolution will decrease.)
F Rotate scale & crop images BEFORE
placing on your page.
F Set picture box background color to
“NONE” in QuarkXPress whenever possible.
F Create blends (or gradients) in Adobe
Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator.
F Avoid saving screening information or
transfer functions with Adobe Photoshop images.
