Scanning, Design, Typesetting & Pre-Press

For the customers who need their ideas turned into professional digital artwork, we offer a full pre-press department offering scanning with our Agfa DuoScan Flatbed scanner or our Pixelcraft Large Format Flatbed. Depending upon the quality of the image you are looking for, we can use one of our scanners to digitize your artwork for printing or for the web. From 72dpi to 8000dpi and up to 12 x 18, we have you covered!

We can scan your images, drawings, negatives, transparencies or positives into many different formats from a standard TIF file to a EPS file. There are many possibilities when it comes to scanning. We can scan your images as-is or we can scan and touch-up to help achieve the effect your want in your final output. Since most high quality artwork can not be scanned by a desktop scanner found in most offices, we can discuss the best scanning choice for you.

With your images scanned, we can design your layout for you or supply you with the print-ready scanned images so that you can perform the design work. Either way, you can be assured that the pictures you choose to use will come out as sharp and clear as possible. We can also supply your digital files to you on CD, Zip Disk or via the Internet.

Techpro can supply proofs to you via many different formats. The most accurate color proofs come from our Tektronix Phaser 1200 x 1200dpi color proofer. With this proofing printer, we can ACCURATELY show you what your job will look like once printed. It is very accurate when it comes to PMS and CMYK colors. The Phaser printer will print full bleeds on 11x17 prints with outstanding color. We also have a large format HP CP3500CP inkjet printer which also offers excellent color reproduction and uses Postscript 3. Another option for a color proof is via our dye sub Dupont Color Proofer, a laser print via our Savin Color machine with Postscript 3 fiery interface. If your work is in grayscale or black and white, we offer a 600dpi Savin Fiery printer or a Xante 1800dpi platemaker printer.

Once the proofs have been inspected and approved we have the ability to produce the film in-house via our Linotronic L330 or Lino 630 Imagesetters with Harlequin RIP's. The Linotronics offers excellent repeatability with 3 different resolutions available. 1240, 2540 and 3360. The Linotronic reproduces screens with frequencies up to 200. For our full color work, we typically produce negatives with 2540dpi and a line screen setting of 150. We use the L-630 for larger, more intricate work. It is a drum imagesetter which offers top-of-the-line repeatability and film making. The L-330 is the work horse as 80 percent of the negatives are made on this imagesetter. Either way, we have you covered. Two in-house imagesetters assure that you get your job when promised and as expected. Film outputting is one of our specialties!

Since all of this is completed in-house, we have complete control over the timing and the quality of the finished product. Once the films are cut we send them to our stripping department who strip up the negatives and create the plates necessary to print from. From there they are brought to the pressroom to be put on one of our presses and printed.

We keep very strict quality control in all facets of the pre-press process so that everything is correct when it gets to the printing press.
